Viking Signs /Grantham, Lincolnshire

Viking Signs is a sign design and manufacturing company offering health and safety signs, sign writing, large format digital printing and industrial engraving, based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. It was originally set up in 1986 by Ron Gray and in 1997, Simon and Michèle Joint took over the business.


our approach

Being a forward thinking company and growing with the times it was important to the customer that they increased their recycling rates. With the nature of their business, they produce high volumes of plastics and paper however their national providers was taking the waste straight to Landfill with only a small amount of recyclables reused.

With using a national provider, they often spoke with different staff in the call centre and didn’t really have a relationship with anyone who solely managed their account.

First of all we arranged a member of our team to meet with the client on their site so we could gain a better understanding of their operations, this also allows us to complete a full waste audit at site. We can then go back the office and work on a proposal to provide to the customer outlining the changes they can make and any costs associated with this. We always work with our clients to ensure anything we propose or put in place works well for the business as a whole.

our solution

Diverting as much waste from landfill was a key driver for Viking Signs so we sourced an Energy from Waste fa-cility to send their general waste to. All other recyclable waste was segregated down and collected separately. In making these changes we not only improved the cus-tomers recycling rates we also gave them a cost saving of 30% annually compared to their previous waste costs.


We provided the customers with a dedicated account manager and both service and compliance were greatly improved, allowing the customer to market themselves as an environmental leader within the industry.
